" Greetings to you! My name is Nambozo Alice and I am 20 years old. I have two children already and am pregnant with my third child. I am 8 months pregnant. My husband is a peasant and we try to grow different crops to earn a living and support ourselves. That is how we get food and try to provide for our children. I am struggling with raising my children because we have no permanent jobs to earn a steady income, as our crops are not always certain to do well. But we trust God, pray, and believe that He will provide! When I was 5 months pregnant, I started attending the maternal and prenatal care at Kupendwa Ministries clinics and workshops that they do right here in my village. Before that, I had been very scared and worried about this pregnancy because for previous pregnancies I was not able to attend prenatal checkups and get any maternity care and I ended up delivering at home with only my husband and a local village woman helping me. I was very scared for my life, but I thank God that he spared me and my children and that we are all alive today.
For this third pregnancy, I was even more worried. We are very far from the clinic and again, up to 5 months pregnant I had received no prenatal checkups, vitamins, or care. I had no birthing supplies for my delivery. Money is very tight and my husband told me that he didn't know if we could buy all of the supplies that I would need for childbirth or any money for transportation to get me to a hospital. I had been feeling many more pains since very early on in my pregnancy than I had in my last two, and I was very scared that things would go wrong this time. I had very little hope of help and I was so afraid that I was not going to make it through childbirth this time. We have lost 12 women over the last year in our village due to childbirth complications and I was becoming more and more worried. But then I started attending Kupendwa's clinics and workshops and they have been such an encouragement and help to me. I have received so much teaching and support, as well as all of the birthing supplies that I will need for my delivery! God provided! I am now going into my final weeks of pregnancy with courage and anticipation of a blessed delivery and childbirth!
I am so thankful that Kupendwa is supporting us as women and mothers and that they care about our lives and the lives of our babies! I cannot thank them enough for their help and support. May God bless Kupendwa." - Alice
